Inclusive AV Fairy Tales: A Creative Innovation Pushing the Boundaries of Accessibility and Inclusion
The TV series Beyond the Last Point is a unique 7-episode audiovisual format running 56 minutes in total. By blending puppetry, animation, and the synchronization of spoken and sign language directly within puppet design, it creates a bilingual theater that dissolves barriers between deaf and hard-of-hearing children and their hearing peers.
Delivering an identical level of entertainment and emotional engagement to the entire young audience, the series successfully transforms technical accessibility requirements into an effortless narrative experience. In doing so, it achieves the highest standard of social inclusion and shared experience within an artistic form grounded in inclusive design from inception.
This methodology marks a major breakthrough in content creation: it entirely eliminates the split-attention effect, enabling every child to follow both the spoken dialogue and sign movement within a single visual field. The narrative unfolds naturally, removing any need to fragment the frame or divide the audience.

Eliminating the Split-Attention Effect Through Inclusive Design
The core technical achievement of this series rests on a creative solution that eliminates the split-attention effect. The format introduces bilingual puppet characters that operate entirely independently, without external moderators or interpreters. This overcomes the standard practice of inserting an in-frame corner insert, which distracts the viewer and disrupts narrative immersion. Each character communicates in two languages simultaneously—spoken and sign language—making hand gestures an organic extension of performance and dialogue. The story flows effortlessly and holds children's attention naturally, dismantling barriers while cultivating deep, intuitive empathy.
National and Regional Distribution
The series premiered on the Public Broadcasting Service of Radio Television of Vojvodina (RTV). The Serbian-language and Serbian Sign Language version airs on RTV 1, while RTV 2 broadcasts the Hungarian-language version with adapted sign language. Beginning in September 2026, the series will reach broad audiences via the RTS Planeta OTT streaming platform, as well as on the specialized digital children’s channel RTS Poletarac. The distribution rollout across national and regional channels is complemented by radio broadcasts of the original songs, developed in collaboration with Radio Novi Sad and Radio Belgrade’s dedicated children’s program Vrteška.
Within regional distribution, broadcasting agreements with Radio and Television of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BHRT) and Federal Television (FTV) are in the final stages of harmonization, with broadcasts scheduled to begin in September 2026. Both broadcasters are collaboratively executing professional language localization and voice recording in the Bosnian language standard. This process strictly adheres to the Production Bible, which sets forth exact parameters for cast direction, audio mixing, and opening/closing title graphic design.
